WHAT IS A LIFE GROUP?


The Sunday morning experience is a non-intimate context not giving the full experience of true community and intimacy. To get the full experience of gathering together for a specific purpose, one would need to join a life group. Why do local churches offer life groups? We have an amazing example recorded in the Scriptures. In Acts, the early believers gathered together in true fellowship:


“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. fellowship and prayer.”
Acts 2:42-47

They spent time learning from the apostles’ teaching and growing in intimacy. Eating together created a comforting and casual environment and prayer created spiritual ties that no one could break.

In our present ministry context, it’s our desire to create these groups for believers to grow in deep intimacy with God and others. We want to reflect the first-century “life groups” by offering the following acronym:
