Meet The Staff

Pastor Dennis Fay

What  made you first come to GRACE and why did you stay?

I came to GRACE 19 years ago due to the teaching and preaching of Pastor Jeff Thornley.  He was doing an in-depth study of the Book of Revelation.  I was so impressed with the teaching and the friendliness of GRACE that I made GRACE my permanent home.  The teaching and friendliness is still amazing!

Where is your favorite place to eat?

My favorite place to eat is Silver Skewers.  They have the best rice in town, not to mention their steaks, chicken and shrimp.

What is your biggest challenge?

My biggest challenge in life is me!  I do not always live a balance life.  I need to say no more often and prioritize my schedule better.  Being in the ministry is awesome and a privilege and I tend to do things in my own power and not rely on God's incredible power.

What is your role at GRACE?

I am the Executive Pastor at GRACE.  I am responsible for the day-to-day operations of the church and to assist the Senior Pastor in any way that I can.  Ultimately my role is to lift up the Senior Pastor's arms so he can do what God has called him to do - shepherd God's church.

How long have you been a part of the family at Grace?

I came to Grace as a young child in fifth grade and worshiped here until college. I have lived in  three different states since then.  I was on staff at a church in Washington State when Pastor Dennis contacted me about a role here. I came on staff in September 2015 and have been loving every minute since!

What is your biggest blessing in ministry?

I love getting to pour into the next generation coming behind me. I teach a Bible study for young professional women and we have a blast in the Scriptures every week. I also get to equip other worship leaders in their giftings. It's a privilege to pour out whatever God has given me. It's not I who live, but Christ who lives in me.

What is your role at Grace?

I am the Communications Director, worship leader for our contemporary service (11 a.m.), and the office manager. Wearing a lot of different hats lets me stay motivated and excited because there's always something to be done! I like having the opportunity to use several different abilities all in one position! It keeps me busy, that's for sure!

How long have you been a part of the family at Grace

My wife and I have been a part of Grace since the fall of 2015. A few years ago, we were serving in the music ministry and youth program at our old church for our first two years of marriage and then we felt called by the Holy Spirit to go elsewhere. Since I lived in Waldorf practically my whole life, I knew of Grace and we decided to visit. Upon walking through the doors of Grace, we felt God's presence. We fell in love with the worship, the preaching, and the people. We knew God was moving in this church and we knew He had called us here.

What is your biggest blessing in ministry?

I absolutely love people. I love pursuing people, getting to know them, and pouring life into them. I thank God that he has chosen me to do so with our youth. My heart longs to build up our young men and women and point them to Christ. I love when I see a young teen surrender his life to Christ, follow Him in making disciples, and sharing the good news of the Gospel.

What is your role at Grace?

I am the Youth Pastor here at Grace. I joined staff in July of 2017. My role is to create an entertaining environment to attract the youth of the church, the school, and the community, in order that they may hear the Gospel. My desire is not that they only hear, but through relationships and discipleship, they may grow in a deeper relationship with Christ and be equipped to walk with Him as they enter college or life after high school.

Heather Bell is excited to lead the team in ministering to the children of Grace Church Waldorf. She and her husband Matt first visited in August 2017 and transferred their membership from Clinton Grace Church (another church in the Charis Fellowship) in March 2018. Then in April, the former Children’s Ministry Director approached Heather about succeeding her in the role after she moved away. She officially started this new position in June 2018.

Besides having four children of her own, she is a teacher having taught fifth grade, preschool, and second grade for a total of fourteen years. She attended Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) and earned bachelor’s degrees in both elementary education and biblical studies (and met Matt!). Then she was privileged to continue in education, earning a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from McDaniel College. She was honored to serve her previous home church in the nursery and lead the MOPS ministry for several years. All that to say, her ministry heart and passion is with and for children.
